Position Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee accounting operations within a growing multi-entity organization. This hands-on leadership role will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, managing month-end close activities, supporting financial planning initiatives, and driving process improvements across the accounting function.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in accounting, experience operating in a multi-unit environment, and the ability to effectively manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and compliance. This position offers the opportunity to contribute strategically while remaining actively involved in day-to-day accounting operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process.
- Oversee general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting activities.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Manage accounting operations across multiple business entities.
- Oversee intercompany transactions and reconciliation processes.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
- Partner with operational and executive leadership to support financial decision-making.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting, and operational efficiencies.
- Develop and maintain clear documentation of accounting procedures and workflows.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities within a Controller or senior accounting capacity.
- Strong understanding of the full accounting cycle and financial reporting.
- Experience supporting multi-entity and/or multi-location organizations.
- Knowledge of intercompany accounting and consolidations.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
Preferred
- Experience within hospitality, restaurant, retail, or other multi-unit operating environments.
- Experience with Restaurant365 (R365).
- FP&A, budgeting, and forecasting experience.
- Exposure to business intelligence, data analytics, or AI-enabled tools.
- CPA designation or progress toward certification.
